I have been playing around with so many color palettes lately that I’ve think I’ve hit a saturation point. (Ha ha ha. No pun intended.) When I get like that, I like to take a break with a good dose of black and white.

And a little hit of gray is always okay, of course.

This black and white bathroom could easily be characterized as luxury, spacious, stylish and smart. It is designed by a fashion designer Susanne Sllund who lives on the Danish island Bornholm. The idea was to create the space that would be as inviting as a living room. In order to achieve that the mix of Neo-baroque and Japanese minimalism was chosen during the decorating. The finished bathroom become not only luxury but also simple and calm. It’s also full of cool things such as the wallpaper that provides lounge-like effect, small craft items that looks like an artworks, baroque candlesticks and so on. White tiled walls and black tiled floors only highlight all that beauties. The custom made bathtub is really very huge – 100 x 120 centimeters. The whole bathroom design was made under 28,000 dollars and about 100 hours.

You might remember a mannish kitchen design done as a collaboration between Poggenpohl and Porsche Design. The kitchen manufacturer, Poggenpohl, has presented an another awesome kitchen design that is in collaboration with German architect Hadi Teherani. The kitchen has a very flexible, modern, minimalist and open design that consists of white cabinets and wooden walls. Thanks to these walls and complex shapes used in the design the boundary between cooking, eating and living could easily be blurred. The idea of the new kitchen goes beyond furnishing the room by giving the possibility to create a complex sculptural area. The kitchen will be available at retails in January 2011. { Poggenpohl }

This 95 square meter flat is designed by French architecture and design studio, Ecole. It’s facing the Eglise Saint-Gervais on one side and the Htel de Ville de Paris on the other. The whole of the the two top floors of an 18th century building are occupied by it. Of course the flat is a restoration of the existing space to become suitable for a contemporary lifestyle. The first floor become a large open space where the entrance, the living room and the kitchen form one single continuity. The guest space that consists of a bedroom and a bathroom is also located on that floor. An amazing steel staircase links the living room to the owners private space underneath the roof. Even though the flat features a black and white minimalist decor there is a touch of oldness thanks to a georgeous fireplace and natural wooden floors.

The Milk Lamp is inspired by the classic nordic milk stool and Nordic tradition of wood and glass. It is designed by NORM architects Kasper Rnn & Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen for &tradition. It’s the first item in a series of sensory design for the home that comes in two flavors – with black or with white cord. The lamp itself is made in white translucent glass, acrylic and oak. It is dimensioned to fit in all corners of the home for a perfect cosy atmosphere. The angle of the legs, the soft edges and the cord in the middle gives the lamp its anthropomorphic character.
