PostHeaderIcon Bathroom Sconces and a Few New Pretties in the Kitchen

I finally decided on the wall sconces for the master bath. They’re part of the Lugarno series from Restoration Hardware. We have two vanities in there so that means four scones so I wanted something really simple because I think four of anything can get to be too much. Our bathroom kind of looks like this with gray marble so I think these will work well. They’re on back order so it’ll be a few weeks before they arrive. I’ll post photos as soon as they’re installed.

RH is at the local mall and while I was there, I got a couple of pretty things for the kitchen. The tea towel is from Anthropologie. (It doesn’t seem to be on their website.) It looks like an old map with a little piece that looks hand-stitched. And you know I can’t resist anything that’s drawn by hand (or looks like it was).

Guy Wolff hand-thrown pots are on sale at RH so I grabbed one. I just love the color and details. I’m thinking about going back for more. I just put some cuttings from the garden in it for now. The pot in the back is from Ikea and look at the pretty hydrangeas from our own garden! There are a ton of blue ones out there too. You don’t know how exciting it is for ol’ black thumbs here to have things growing in my garden. It’s only because they were here long before me(!)

Thank you so much for all of your support yesterday. They still haven’t taken down my content but it seems we’re at least being heard. They have now removed their contact form and closed comments on all posts so there is no way for anyone to get in touch with them. I guess they got tired of hearing from us! I’m going to follow up with some of the readers’ suggestions and see what happens. Thank you all so much!

PostHeaderIcon White Kitchen Design with Wooden Back Walls – +Artesio by Poggenpohl

You might remember a mannish kitchen design done as a collaboration between Poggenpohl and Porsche Design. The kitchen manufacturer, Poggenpohl, has presented an another awesome kitchen design that is in collaboration with German architect Hadi Teherani. The kitchen has a very flexible, modern, minimalist and open design that consists of white cabinets and wooden walls. Thanks to these walls and complex shapes used in the design the boundary between cooking, eating and living could easily be blurred. The idea of the new kitchen goes beyond furnishing the room by giving the possibility to create a complex sculptural area. The kitchen will be available at retails in January 2011. { Poggenpohl }

At Eurocucina 2010 in Milan, Italian kitchen manufacturer Ernestomeda introduced the Carr kitchen that was designed by Marc Sadler.

The Carr Kitchen by Marc Sadler for Ernestomeda

The Salone del Mobile 2010 will provide an exclusive showcase for the launch of the new creation from Ernestomeda, leader at the high end of the designer kitchen market: Carr, the brand new kitchen bearing the name of Marc Sadler, the outcome of three years of intensive collaboration between the firm and the designer, generating a new concept in fitted kitchens.

Versatile and multifaceted, Carr combines eclecticism and avant-garde design, responding to the observers imagination to pay homage to the kitchen as a place for sharing, the centre of the homes daily life.

The design project arose from the desire to produce a kitchen with versatility and breadth of assortment as its major benefits and here it is important to underline the connotations of craftsmanship, supported by the potential of industrial production but clearly reflected in the infinite variety of colours, forms and combinations.

A lot of people say they detest the rigid structure of the many minimalist kitchens on the market, states Marc Sadler, and everyone agrees that the kitchen is also the room that best reflects the taste of the people who live in the home, who love to personalise it with their favourite symbols, family heirlooms or holiday souvenirs. This is the starting-point for Carr: if I had to choose just one word to describe it, that word would be multifaceted, reflecting its ability to be all things to all persons.

Without a doubt, the most distinctive feature of the new Ernestomeda programme is the handle. This multifaceted kitchen has an extremely innovative, trendsetting detail: a handle, which transforms the conventional fixture into a recess in the door, incredibly convenient and stylish. Carrs major innovative content lies not just in the beauty of this detail, but also in the vast assortment of solutions possible: the new handle is available in a wide choice of shapes and sizes.

Carr also offers an impressively wide choice of colours, which guarantee personalisation to the consumers preferences: there are 46 varieties of both matt and gloss lacquered finishes, for both doors and handles. Handles can be supplied in wood, in rosewood and olive versions, or in steel.

The range of marble, granite and quartz work-tops is extended with new additions: the different colour options for every single part of the composition allow creation of a kitchen moulded to the individuals wishes, to satisfy every kind of requirement: there are no less than 225,400 possible colour and shape combinations.

The new, patented Layer work-top consists of three different slabs and can be produced in six different materials (listed in the technical details below). The new Ray5 work-top with rounded edge can be supplied in four different materials.

The infinite potential for personalisation makes Carr unique of its kind. The hand-crafted doors are shaped on the back, and during trimming the handles are fixed using Torx screws, marked with the Ernestomeda name, making them replaceable. This allows them to be changed at any time to give the kitchen a fresh colour/material.

Another original feature is provided by the new double shelves with semi-gloss steel finish aluminium profile, the new ABS and metal shelf supports, the new adjustable wall cabinet supports and the new recycling bins.

The new, patented Regent hood, designed by Marc Sadler exclusively for Ernestomeda in wall-mounted, island and island plus integral shelf versions, is in painted sheet metal, and is available in Ice, Black and Nuance Red gloss lacquered colours and satined Steel.

The kitchen is completed by the addition of elements capable of satisfying a variety of furnishing requirements. The items available include open end base cabinets and cupboards and open boxes for base and tall cabinets, components ideal for creating counters or bookcases, depending on requirements, the perfect expression of the Ernestomeda philosophy.
